I am taking the above 3 medications for blood pressure, i have came down with very bad Tinnitus also. Of these 3 which would more likely cause the tinnitus? Im thinking coreg but im not sure. How long does it take to get them out of your system?

Allergic reaction to Carvedilol (brand: Coreg) causes tinnitus along with other symptoms. Bisoprolol/Hydrochlorothiazide may also cause tinnitus as a side effect. Aliskiren (brand: Tekturna) is also a cause for tinnitus. Nonetheless, high blood pressure on its own may cause pulsatile tinnitus.
Discontinuing your medications is not an option either, so it will be better for you to speak to your prescribing physician about your condition of tinnitus. Also, discuss with your physician if taking Alprazolam may be suitable for you which may help to relieve from the tinnitus. Taking Alprazolam at the same time with either carvedilol or bisoprolol is not recommended.

Good Health To You!

Why is my tinnitus getting worse?

Posted by: admin | Comments (2)

I am only 14, but have in my opinion (being one person and not being able to hear other’s tinnitus to compare it with) pretty bad tinnitus. I do NOT listen to loud music from IPods or other such devices. In fact I am quite against doing such things. The only really loud noises I have been exposed to were from a school bell at a past school that was VERY loud, but I left that school about 8 or 9 months ago, and while I was at it, I very quickly learned to walk past the bell with my hands over my ears when it was about to go off. I can think of no other loud noises I am/was routinely exposed to, apart from the occasional bark from our dogs. The only other think I can think of is that this period at school was VERY stressful for me, and I have heard that stress causes tinnitus. My tinnitus started as very faint whining noise in my left ear which I could only hear by pressing my hand very hard against it. If I was in a very quite room I could only just hear it if I concentrated. Then it progressively got louder. After a while, I was noticing the same sound in my right ear too, though not as loud. It continued to get worse, then I developed another sound in my right ear, a much deeper, throbbing, electronic-y noise which I could only really hear at night, accompanied by the other, now far more intense noises. I am now being Home-Educated, and my stress levels have significantly dropped. However, the noises continued to get worse. The deep noise started to occur too in my left ear. Now I can hear another, very high pitched noise in both ears that is far more intrusive. I can hear it even with Low - Low-Moderate background noises. All in all there is no such thing as a quiet room for me now! All I can hear are now very loud humming, whistling and whining noises. It drives me mad, and gives me trouble getting to sleep sometimes! My mum says that I am a hypochondriac, and that it is all in my imagination, which as anyone reading this who also has tinnitus will probably know, makes me want to punch a brick wall in fury! Please could SOMEONE help!
Thanks.

Tinnitus can be caused by a variety of things. For example, are you taking aspirin or are you on antibiotics? Have you had ear infections? These can do it. An audiologist would be of help here. Tell your mum that loony or not, you want to find out what is causing it. There are things that help this.

I was just wondering if there was something I can do that will speed up the process to curing Tinnitus. Cause I would jump at the chance to be some sort of guinea pig if it’ll help find a cure. I’m sick of having to wait until I’m completely exhausted to fall asleep.

I mean I’m no doctor but if they could just "snip out" the nerve that is cause the ringing, I would so do that.

Depends what is causing the tinnitus. Excessive noise, ear infections, fluid build up, certain medical ear conditions, TMJ dysfunction, anaemia from iron or vitamin B12 deficiency, a thyroid imbalance or high blood pressure all cause tinnitus. Red wine, cheese and chocolate are known to trigger tinnitus and water retention caused by excessive salt can make tinnitus worse. Eliminating drinks containing caffeine like coffee, teas, and soft drinks can help.

Aspirin, anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics cause tinnitus as they kill the good bacteria in the gut leading to an overgrowth of candida. Probiotics, anti fungal supplements like Pau D’Arco, and the candida diet can all help get rid of candida.

Hypnotherapy is proven as an effective treatment for tinnitus.

Dental Procedure and increased Tinnitus?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

Hi there, i’ve had tinnitus for a little while and on Monday just gone i had a tooth extraction, it was a bad one and took him ages, a canine one. About a day after my tinnitus went through the roof, i got a black coating on my tongue and it hurt like hell. I got put on antibiotics to help with healing. Has anybody had this? can this type of procedure cause bad tinnitus - its driving me mad. And whats the best thing for black tongue, i’m assuming the procedure caused this as it came the day after.. Thanks so much.
No One had this?

The Dentist may have damaged your ear further…

Hmm but it may be temporary. To be totally honest I am not exactly sure if the dentist could make it worse but I do have well I did have tinnitus my self (from shooting with no ear defenders, stupid I know).

I found a cure for the symptoms and totally stopped the ringing in my left ear :-) happy me!

I will leave a link in the source box for you.

I would see a doctor by the way and explain it all, you may be entitled to compensation… Hmmm that’s soo American… Ah well, Good luck

Tinnitus From Loud Music or noise?

Posted by: admin | Comments (3)

People with Tinnitus from Loud Music or noise. Does the pitch of your tinnitus change when you bite your teeth down, does it change when you listen to music get louder, Or does it stay the same exact tone no matter what is going on.

I belive I have TMJ tinnitus But I havent been to a doctor yet, im trying to find out if this research on the internet is true, or if I have a different disorder..

Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) syndrome:
This jaw disorder may cause tinnitus and is characterized by many
symptoms, including headaches, earaches, tenderness of the jaw
muscles, dull facial pain, jaw noises, the jaw locking open, and pain
while chewing.
The Sternocleidomastoideus muscle connects on your sternum
by the collar bone on both sides and goes back to the back
of the ear. It’s about 6-10 inches long and when it gets
tight, it can pull on the TMJ area thereby creating a pull
on the muscles and ligaments around the inner ear area.
Almost certainly the final "pull" is the sphenomandibular
ligament which connects the ear drum and TMJ. An osteopath
can work with this. Xanax or other benzo’s can provide
tension relief as well. The masseter and temporalis muscles
(those in front of the ear and above the ear can cause the
same TMJ/tinnitus problems. If a person wants to know if
their tinnitus is connected to their TMJ in some way, have
them 1) clench their teeth- does it change the tinnitus? 2)
push in hard on the jaw with your palm. Does the tinnitus
change? (Get louder/softer, pitch or tone change) 3) Push in
on the forehead with your hand hard. Resist with the head.
Any changes? In about half the people I talk to, they find a
TMJ correlation they never even dreamed of…

Is this research True, or is my tinnitus from loud music?
This is what is up, one night I heard a loud roaring in my ears, then the tinnitus begun. When i bite my jaw it makes the tinnitus louder, or when I put pressure on my teeth. When I listen to music treble sounds distorted and it makes the tinnitus worse. Does anyone know a way to fix this from home or do you have to see a specialist, and are you sure this is not from sound induced trama.

Hi There:
The same goes for me + a lot of hours with headphones playing electric guitar and after endless
medical checks still don’t know either caused damage to inner ear or something else.
And also, when I lock my jaw the pitch of the tinnitus does change.
When tinnitus present-treble sounds are distoreted ( the tinitius is not constant -come and goes)
When no tinnitus the earing is perfect including high frequency sounds.

I have it about 7 months and with time i learn to accept the fact.
Even I learn to ignore it when I want to sleep with no background music playing, fan, and neither sleeping pill, no alcohool. But I would like to know what is to live again without that curse.

You SHOULD go at least to do medical check in order to eliminate dangerous factors
CT , mri, blood checks, audigram, BERA check.
Take care
Jose

I hear that tinnitus can be caused by bone movement, that could have happened because of my braces. Can having them removed stop the tinnitus?

The bones that cause this are in your ear, not your mouth, so removing braces will not stop this. (There are three tiny bones in your ear.) If you have a ringing in your ears often, you should see a doctor to find out the cause.

My Husband went to the doctor for just this problem today. They gave him a detailed hearing test and found he is nearly deaf in one ear and has poor hearing in the other. All war related.

This is an annoying problem, for people. The doctor gave no cause, it’s like your eyes beginning to fail. It’s just a part of the body breaking down from life in general. There is some medicine on the market. I’ve been meaning to buy it, I wish I could tell you if the medicine worked.

But, I can tell you that this is a problem that brings so much discomfort. It must nearly drive you insane at times. Good Luck and Good Health. I would see a hearing specialist.

I have been suffering with hearing loss most of my life. I have been trying to cope with tinnitus for about 5 months. I went to an ENT about a month ago and he basically told me to live with both. He said 20 db of hearing loss and minor tinnitus would be something I have to cope with.

1 month later, I am back in school. I can’t hear that well and it’s a struggle sometimes. My tinnitus drives me nuts. I dunno what to do. I thought about going to another ENT to get a second opinion on what might be causing my tinnitus. I’ve also thought about going to an audiologist to get a hearing aid (or at least a second opinion on whether or not I need one).

My family isn’t very supportive right now and telling me to quit whining and deal with it. What should I do?

Hi Dustin,

Well….Your family should support you a little bit at least. You know what..Dustin…as such Tinnitus has no cure

Even the American Tinnitus Association endorses this fact http://www.ata.org/

Many conventional medications achieve only limited success in tinnitus relief, and usually their bothersome side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, and constipation often discourage use.
Valium, Xanax and Klonopin are benzodiazepine drugs that many doctors prescribe for tinnitus. They are addicting to varying degrees and cannot be used continuously for a long period of time. They are helpful in reducing tinnitus symptoms and aid in sleeping. Valium is the most addicting of these and is not used often for this reason.

Xanax is very popular and is prescribed often for tinnitus. However, the ATA report on medications that cause tinnitus lists Xanax as causing it in 6.6% of cases.

Natural and holistic tinnitus remedies can be effective in assisting with the relief of symptoms, as well as addressing the individual’s overall health and well-being.

Tinnitus herbal remedies can be used to support all body systems involved in helping the ear to perform its tasks of clear hearing and balance, as well as the circulatory, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.

Some of the most common herbs used are

• Ginkgo Biloba is excellent for a number of cerebral and circulatory disorders. It is probably the most widely-used herb for tinnitus and many sufferers swear by this natural ingredient.
• Rosemary dilates and strengthens blood vessels and is an excellent circulation tonic. Rosemary is particularly useful for tinnitus that is caused or worsened by high blood pressure and other circulatory conditions.
• Avena Sativa is effective in reducing high cholesterol levels which can contribute to circulatory problems which cause tinnitus.
• Wild Hyssop s also useful in reducing pain and inflammation.
• Salicylic Ac. is indicated for tinnitus with loud roaring or ringing sounds, which may be accompanied by deafness or vertigo. This remedy is particularly useful in people whose symptoms began with a bout of flu, Meniere’s disease or long-term use of aspirin.

Hope all this helps

Good Luck!
